Old Vigornians CC

Welcome to the Home Page of the Old Vigornian Cricket Club. The side was founded in 1948 to provide regular cricket for the old boys of the Kings School Worcester. The first documented example of an Old Boys side playing the school is 1882. We play at the school pitches next too the County ground at New Road in Worcester & at Kings Hawford on the outskirts of the city off the A449 to Kidderminster.

In 2008 we celebrate our 60th anniversary with a tour to Devon, a game against the School and a special match played on the County Cricket Ground on September 21st.

Club 60th Anniversary

It's the club's 60th anniversary this season. We'd very much like to hear from former players who would be interested in re-establishing contact with the club. My email - phil.mackie@bbc.co.uk - is the best way of doing so. There are a couple of big events planned for the season. There will be a cricketing tour to Devon from June 30th to July 3rd. There are two games against Kings School - a 20/20 affair on the evening of May 8th, and a 45 over match on the afternoon of Monday July 7th both at New Road. The anniversary celebarations will culminate on the weekend of September 19th - 21st, which coincides with the OV annual reunion weekend. We're encouraging cricketers to take part in the Golf Day on 19th, attend the reunion dinner on 20th in College Hall, where there will be an exhibition of memorabilia and old photos, and finally, to either take part in, or attend a 60th anniversary President's XI match at the County Ground Worcester on Sunday 21st.
Get set for the summer !

Great Moments in OV history number 1

Legendary OV player Nick Firth got bored and very drunk watching worcestershire lose to Gloucestershire in the 2003 C&G Final. The following extract is from a court report that appeared.
"An estate agent was fined £100 on Tuesday for streaking at Lord's cricket ground during the Cheltenham and Gloucester county cup final, bringing play to a stop. Tipsy Nicholas Firth,28,was wearing just a pair of boxer shorts, which were ripped, exposing his genitals,Horseferry Road Court heard. "I am an idiot," he told police after sobering up later that afternoon."I shouldn't have done it.I was just being stupid,I am sorry."
